The GFWC Curwensville Woman’s Club saw a need for a library in Curwensville in 1968 so they began a project called “Operation Library.” On April 22, 1968 the Curwensville Public Library was opened as a branch of the Clearfield County Public Library. Through the intervening years, and through four different locations, this organization has truly been a Friend of the Library sponsoring a yearly campaign that has provided books, periodicals, craft supplies, office supplies, electronics, displays and furniture. They have also provided labor during book sales and provided refreshments during many programs, workshops and events. The support of this dedicated group over close to a half a century has a great deal to do with the success the library enjoys today.
